Today we went to the first ever Zombie-O-Rama in downtown San Jose, California. It was hosted by Slave Labor Graphics. My niece and grand niece had their faces made up by a professional zombie make-up artist. Participants were in the hundreds, but everyone came dressed for the part, had make-up done by the guest professional make-up artists or did their own make-up and effects.
The fun started at about 6:00 pm where everyone was to zombie crawl through downtown San Jose. Needless to say, the living dead drew plenty of attention from the locals, as it was rush hour time, so folks driving home and eating in restaurants got to see zombies running, er, staggering about down the sidewalks, acting like zombies.
The walking dead did their very best to act human, but still their fascination for the living was still apparent as they pounded on doors, pressing their pale faces up on windows, hammering their hands on the sides of a passing rail car, causing panic in some, fear in others, and lots of smiles all around.
Some actors really got into their zombie roles, like the man above. His make-up and zombie effects were great and so he drew many stares, got many snapshots and videos.
I think every one had a good time, had loads of fun and plenty of laughter. Well, as much fun as zombies can have! My niece and grand niece participated in the event, having their make-up done up by one of the artists present. I was glad to have chronicled the event with my words and photos. You can view my videos of the Zombie-O-Rama on my YouTube page.
